Public School 46, Queens, New York
The proposed addition expands the existing primary school with new classrooms, offices, special education spaces, a cafeteria, and a kitchen. Designed to support both learning and daily operations, the project strengthens the school’s academic and community functions. The building envelope utilizes tilt-up prefabricated concrete panels, offering a durable, energy-efficient, and cost-effective construction solution. These panels are acid-washed and stained to create a subtle, elegant color gradation across the façade. At the front entry plaza, green-stained concrete panels feature an etched oak tree silhouette, establishing a strong visual identity for the school. This motif continues into the interior, where the same oak tree pattern is etched into the foyer glass panels. Together, these elements create a welcoming and distinctive entrance that connects architecture, landscape, and community identity.
