PS-14 Senator John D. Calandra School
This pre-kindergarten through fifth grade school pairs a historic building with a modern addition joined by an entrance pavilion. The addition, clad with terracotta panels, is visually distinct from the existing brick building and is sited to maximize outdoor play space. The arching roof of the cafeteria’s one-story structure frames the new main entrance approached through the play yard. The addition’s 19 new classrooms include rooms for art, music, science, and special education as well as home rooms.
