Calf Pasture Beach Camp, Norwalk, CT
The Calf Pasture Beach Camp Facility is conceived as an open, climate-responsive pavilion that strengthens the connection between people, landscape, and ocean. Oriented toward clear views of the beach, the building frames coastal activity while maintaining a strong sense of openness and community. A series of sloped roofs brings in soft northern light, allowing interior spaces to feel bright and welcoming without glare. Open pavilion sides encourage ample natural airflow, reducing the need for mechanical cooling and enhancing comfort throughout the day. The roof structure is designed to support potential solar panels, reinforcing the camp’s commitment to long-term sustainability. Rainwater is captured through an integrated roof runoff collection system, supporting responsible water management on site. Together, these strategies create a simple, resilient facility that responds directly to its coastal setting while prioritizing comfort, efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
