Ambulance Shed, Kyabirwa, Uganda

The Ambulance Shed doubles as a maintenance hub, housing an IT workshop, welding and repair shop, janitorial services, staff lockers, and storage. A secondary metal roof minimizes solar heat gain and enhances ventilation, creating a comfortable environment for indoor and outdoor work. Polycarbonate panels bring natural light deep into the workshop, reducing reliance on electricity. At the building’s front, a small community pharmacy provides essential medical supplies.

Constructed with corrugated tin sheets and steel tubes using locally familiar methods, the shed is easily assembled and maintained. All materials are locally sourced, supporting sustainability, affordability, and the regional economy.
